ARK Values in Action: Our Whole-Child Approach
Our provision is rooted in a whole-child model that places the individual pupil at the centre of all decision-making. The diagram illustrates how our three core values — Kindness, Respect and Aspiration — operate as interlocking layers of support that enable every child to thrive both personally and academically.

Kindness
At the foundation is Kindness, which reflects our commitment to pupils’ care, wellbeing and emotional development. We recognise that children cannot learn effectively unless they feel safe, supported and understood. This is realised through strong SEMH provision, nurture approaches, family support, mental health awareness and early help processes. These systems ensure that barriers to learning are identified and addressed promptly.
Respect
Building on this foundation is Respect, which shapes the culture and climate of the school. Through secure safeguarding practices, consistent behaviour systems, inclusive practice, SEND support, pupil voice and effective EAL support, we create an environment where pupils experience belonging, dignity and positive relationships. This establishes the conditions in which children feel confident to participate, contribute and take risks in their learning.
Aspiration
The outer layer, Aspiration, represents our drive to ensure pupils achieve well and are prepared for future success. This includes promoting strong attendance, high levels of engagement, academic achievement, resilience and readiness for the next stage of education. By the time pupils leave us, they have developed both the character and the competencies needed for lifelong learning.
These values are not separate initiatives; they form a coherent framework that underpins all aspects of school life.
All Staff
Wellbeing enables belonging, belonging enables engagement, and engagement enables achievement. Delivering this approach is a collective responsibility shared by all staff, with every colleague playing a vital role at classroom, pastoral, operational and leadership levels.
Leadership
Leaders ensure that policies, curriculum design, pastoral systems, professional development and day-to-day practice are fully aligned to this model, so that academic outcomes are strengthened through strong personal development, inclusive practice and consistently high expectations.
Academy Council
For Academy Councillors, this model provides a clear line of sight between:
- strategic priorities
- resource allocation
- pupil experience
- and outcomes
It demonstrates how safeguarding, inclusion, behaviour, curriculum ambition and personal development are integrated within a unified approach rather than operating in isolation. In essence, our values framework ensures that every child is known, supported & challenged, enabling them to
‘Navigate Life and Learning Together’.
