Celebration Assembly
Celebration Assembly at Raleigh Academy and Admirals Academy
At Raleigh Infant Academy and Admirals Academy, our weekly Celebration Assembly is an important opportunity to recognise achievement, celebrate individual and collective success, and reinforce the values that help our children flourish both academically and personally.
Held every Friday morning, the assembly brings pupils together to reflect on the week, celebrate accomplishments and look ahead with confidence. It is a positive and enjoyable occasion that helps strengthen our academy community and ensures that success, effort and character are recognised publicly.
Celebrating Achievement and Our Academy Values
The assembly begins with recognition of whole-school achievements, including House Point successes and attendance awards. Classes are encouraged to work together throughout the week, and the class with the strongest attendance chooses the music played as pupils enter the hall. This helps create a positive atmosphere from the very start of the event.
For pupils in Years 1, 2 and 3, teachers award our ARK certificates and badges, recognising children who consistently demonstrate our academy values of:
- Aspiration – dreaming big, being hopeful for the future and striving to achieve great things.
- Respect – treating others with kindness, care and consideration.
- Kindness – helping others and showing compassion within our school community.
Celebrating Character Development
Alongside academic achievement, we place great importance on developing character and the personal qualities that help children succeed in school and beyond.
Each week, one class from Years 4, 5 or 6 is given the opportunity to showcase their learning, achievements and experiences to the wider school community. Over the course of the year, every class has several opportunities to present and share what makes them unique.
During these presentations, teachers may award Character Badges to pupils who have demonstrated exceptional personal qualities. These awards are aligned to three key character traits that we believe are fundamental for future success:
- Motivation – showing determination, resilience and a willingness to persevere when faced with challenge.
- Self-Belief – demonstrating confidence and belief in their own ability to succeed.
- Independence – making sensible decisions, solving problems and taking responsibility for their own learning and actions.
The awards are carefully structured across the upper year groups so that pupils can progressively develop and be recognised for these characteristics as they mature through the school.
Class Showcases
The class showcase element of Celebration Assembly allows children to take pride in their learning and share their experiences with others. Each presentation is brief, engaging and led by the class and teacher in a way that best reflects their work and achievements.
Showcases might include:
- Presentations about learning projects.
- Examples of outstanding work.
- Performances, songs, poetry or drama.
- Reflections on educational visits and enrichment activities.
- Discussions about teamwork, successes and future goals.
- Recognition of the adults who support the class each day.
- These opportunities help pupils develop confidence, public speaking skills and a sense of belonging, while allowing the wider school community to celebrate the achievements of others.
Why Celebration Assembly Matters
Our Celebration Assembly is about much more than certificates and badges. It helps children to:
- Recognise the importance of positive attitudes and behaviours.
- Value effort, perseverance and resilience.
- Learn from the achievements of others.
- Develop confidence and self-esteem.
- Feel proud of their contributions to school life.
- Strengthen our shared sense of community and belonging.
By celebrating both achievement and character, we aim to ensure that every child feels valued and inspired to become the very best version of themselves.
